It is believed that a foreign language can be taught easily through translation and cramming of rules of grammar. Grammar and translation are two important besic elements of this method. The teacher asks the students to memorize the rules of grammar and thereafter to translate passages from mother tongue into English and similarly from English into mother tongue. Grammar cum translation method ensures accuracy in writing English and enable students to write English without any grammatical mistakes.
