Curriculum of English for junior high school level : Junior high school level consists of classes VI, VII and VIII. At this level main emphasis is given to language development. At this level, English is not taught as literature, but a ground work is done paving the way to the study of literature in higher classes. At this level, in the beginning the teacher helps the students to acquire a command over spoken forms rather than merely teaching the English text-books. The curriculum for the classes belonging to this level is given below :

Class VI-VIII

(i) Text, oral and written work on text, reading, spelling, pronunciation and grammar :
(ii) Oral and written composition including conversation.
(iii) Writing or dictation.
