The main objective of introducing CBCS by UGC at UG and PG courses are :
(i) There was a dire need for reforms to improve the higher education.
(ii) This was felt a need to enhance or increase learning opportunities to students.
(iii) It was realized that a system should come in place which has the ability to match the learners scholastic needs and aspiration.
(iv) The CBCS facilitates mobility across Universities and colleges.
(v) The CBCS aims at bringing quality and excellence in education system.
(vi) CBCS aims at greater flexibility and freedom to complete the course.
(vii) CBCS also works towards standardization and compatibility of educational programme across the country.
