Role of Real Objects in Teaching of English :- In teaching of English, real objects bring interest so that the students become able to acquire knowledge faster. Real objects are used to clarify meanings, image and concept. It is a mode of one-to-one communication which is direct and deep and almost unforgettable. Words may be matched with the objects they stand for. With the help of objects, students get the correct perspective of size, texture, weight, shape and even taste. For example: while teaching five fruits names, or five vegetable names or five flowers names, teacher may explain by writing the words, i.e., fruits, vegetables and flowers; then draw their figure on the board; and then explain orally how the word and the object are related. The students will take it and perhaps ‘understand’ what the teacher is trying to convey them, and may even reproduce the correct answer in the feed back. But these strategies are not perfect with respect to experiences of fruits, vegetables and flowers. It may be made life-like with the help of objects. For example, during teaching of word apple, if a teacher perform all oral and board-graphic drills and towards the end show an apple to the students. The link between the word apple and an apple is now inseparable as the students have seen it, touched it, smelt it and if the teacher is kind, even tasted it. This is the marvel of a direct experience in which the objects are seen in all their intensity and totality.
