Bulletin Board as an Information Centre – The bulletin board is centrally located and is managed by the House or club on duty. These boards may be used to display picture, advertisements, cartoon, chart, graph, news, specific articles from periodicals, creative works of students etc. This board may also be exploited to further the cause of English teaching.

These boards should be prepared in English and senior students should be given an opportunity to develop a theme, incident, historical fact or some other details of national and international importance and relevance. These boards may be used to commemorate such events like birth/death anniversaries of Shakespeare, Dickens, Austen, Bernard Shaw, Tagore, and others who contributed to the growth of English language. Students may display appropriate quotations from their works along with their pictures. The displayed matter on these boards should be in a specific order and should be according to the age and mental level of the students. This board should be placed in the school at such a place where the students can conveniently see it. The space on the board is limited so the matter to be displayed on the bulletin board should be judiciously selected by the teacher or by the committee of the students made for this purpose. To use bulletin board as an effective information centre, following guidelines should be observed :–

(i) The matter should be presented in a well organised and serialised order.
(ii) This board should be used to display the creative works of the students.
(iii) Each displayed matter should have suitable heading.
(iv) The displayed matter should be changed with the change of objectives and problems.
(v) The displayed matter should concern the topic being taught in the class or the activity being undertaken in the school.
(vi) The students should get an opportunity to discuss the displayed or to be displayed matter on the bulletin board.
(vii) The displayed matter should be entertaining and should be within the grasp of the students.
(viii) The size of the displayed matter should be such as to be visible from a reasonable distance.
