बी.एड. सेमेस्टर-1 प्रश्नपत्र-I - फिलासफिकल पर्सपेक्टिव आफ एजुकेशन (अंग्रेजी भाषा में)
Question- Write a short note on Philosophy and Teacher.
Answer -
In the widest sense, every person has a philosophy of life and in the same way every educator has a philosophy of education. What a teacher really and truly believes shows itself in his actions and in his attitude towards life. When he is really earnest about his beliefs, he will not keep them to himself but will do all in his power to persuade others. This is the main spring of all missionary efforts. Therefore, Sri Aurobindo about teacher says, “He is a man helping his brothers, child leading children, a light kindling other lights, an awakened soul awakening other souls, at highest a power of presence of the divine calling to him other power of the Divine.”
Some practical teachers believe : “What is the value of philosophy of education? I have my own special job and I do it to the best of my ability. I keep my mind open to new ideas, especially if they concern the curriculum and the methods of teaching.” This is just a controversy between the theory and practice or philosophy and education. Those who support education to be practical only argue that an ounce of practice is worth a ton of theory. Hence theory and practice are opposed. But if we observe deeply into the matter, we will find that they are complementary, not contradictory. Theory may often point the way to successful practice and reflection on practice can be of value in making practice more meaningful.
