बी.एड. सेमेस्टर-1 प्रश्नपत्र-I - फिलासफिकल पर्सपेक्टिव आफ एजुकेशन (अंग्रेजी भाषा में)
Question- Write a short note on philosophy and Methods of Teaching.
Answer -
Filling the minds of the students with facts is not ‘education’. Whitehead says, “The students’ mind is a growing organism. On the one hand it is not a box to be ruthlessly packed with alien ideas; and, on the other natural food for a developing intelligence.” Again, “it must never be forgotten that education is not a process of packing articles in a trunk. Such a sample is entirely inapplicable.... Its nearest analogue is the assimilation of food by a living organism and we know how necessary to health is palatable food under suitable conditions. Hence to make the food of education palatable to the child under suitable conditions and prevent him from taking wrong food, suitable methods should be followed in educating the child. On the whole, teaching methods have been based either upon the nature of the subject matter or the psychology of the learning process, or merely because it has been observed that certain ways of presenting the lesson material attract the interest and hold the attention of the students. Thus education becomes palatable and helps the child in complete living. We have already discussed that the aims of education are subject to the philosophy of life. Methods are the means through which the goal of education can be realised. Hence philosophy and methods of teaching are inter-related.
