The argument about education is rather futile until the question of aim is resolved. For instance, when we say, what education should do, there is no way to Answer -s this question unless the aims of education are clear. The consideration of aim of education is a matter of philosophy. Aims of education are associated with ways of knowing or beliefs about how truth is discovered, which are the focus of various philosophies of education. When one knows how truth is searched out one is ready to deal with the question of what should be taught. There are many philosophies of education, which advocate aims of education according to their own point of view. When we make an analysis of aims of education from philosophical point of view, we shall have to relative our discussions to the aims of education propagate by different philosophies of education. For instance education for spiritual growth is the aim of idealism, the idealists see the universe as being made up of mind and reason, the predominant forces in life. They advocate two types of aims in education one for the welfare of the individual and the other for the good of the society. To speak of the former the ultimate aim of education is self-realisation or spiritual becoming. Self-realisation is the goal of life, hence and is the aim of education.
