Aim - Aim is a statement or a form of category which suggests any kind of change. Aim also may be defined as a general expression of intent which are of long term purposes. It is very important to know the aims of teaching a subject. Without them a teacher can't hope to achieve anything. without predeciding the aims is just like a journey of a Passenger who does not know which direction he is heading to. These aims will enable the teacher to decide the method and devices which he will use to accomplish the task he has set before him. To teach properly, a teacher should know the aim of teaching. The predetermination of aims help in the planning and execution of the plan.

The general aims of teaching are long term aims. They are at par with the aims of education. Therefore, they are meant to be achieved during the schooling period of the pupils. For example, the general aims of teaching of English are spread to class I to XII i.e., during whole schooling. On the other hand, specific aims are the objectives, which are to be achieved even within a period.
