English opens up a plethora of vibrant and creative avenues to explore. Literary texts written in English, are analysed in various contexts like social, historical, political or material – and approaches several theoretical and methodological perspectives, which helps in developing new and highly skilled ways of reading and interpreting. Candidates from English Literature can get jobs in abroad too. English gives comprehensive knowledge and relative understanding of the English language. The newly gained linguistic and analytical skills enable a student to pursue a career in communications, publishing etc.

• Teacher – Individuals holding a master’s degree in English can choose to teach in colleges and schools. They can conduct English creative writing and literature classes. An English teacher is responsible for planning lessons, giving lectures etc.

• Journalist – Career in journalism is a prestigious profession as well as a highly paid one. There are endless opportunities for journalists which has become very challenging.

• Editor – Editors are required in magazines, newspapers, publishing organizations etc. The editors scrutinize writers’ work, develop content for publication and sometimes might even need to do some writing themselves. Some editors choose to freelance and work either with one or several firm.
