Observation is one of the most frequently used ways to gather information and get picture of what’s happening in a school or classroom. It can be used to assess student’s performance in various co-curricular activities. Systematic classroom observation is a quantitative method of measuring classroom behaviours. Information about a child (his/her behaviour) can be collected in and outside the class through observations. Observation can be used as a tool of assessment in a variety of situations like debates, elocutions, group work, practical and laboratory activities, projects, play fields and school prayers, clubs and festivals. Observation can be biased and subjective. However, such errors and risks can be substantially reduced by using an observation schedule.
