A quiz is a form of game or mind sport in which the players (as individuals or in teams) attempt to answer questions correctly. In some countries, a quiz is also a brief assessment used in education and similar fields to measure development in knowledge, abilities and/or skills. A well designed quiz helps motivate the students. It highlights the subject areas and skill sets which the students are particularly strong as well as points out those areas which would benefit them. Some points to be kept in mind while designing a quiz are :

(i) Match the quiz materials with the teaching contents.
(ii) Keep it simple and thoughtful.
(iii) Think about the utility of pop-quizzes versus those given with advance notice.
(iv) Assess learning outcomes by quizzing both before and after new material is presented.
(v) Provide timely and constructive feedback.
(vi) Design quizzes that evaluate higher cognitive abilities than just student's ability to recall.

The results of a well designed quiz often provide valuable insight into how effectively the course material is being presented. Quiz results help to assess a teacher's accomplishments in teaching also. Talking about their presentation, quiz may be question based or it may be pictorial. Several techniques can be used to make the quiz interesting.
