Question- What are the causes of poor spelling?

The accuracy of spelling is too important to languages so many pupile have to fave a lot of difficulties in learning correct pronunciation. The cousess of poor spelling are as following–

1. Sometimes some literate persons also commit spelling mistakes only because of wrong pronunciation.

2. In english alphabets, there are similar sound when they are arranged specifically, eg. tion sound like ‘Shun’, Ciat sounds like tial, if teacher is not well versed in pronunciation, there are much possibilities of committing spelling mistakes.

3. In consistent rules of English. Spelling causes a lot of confusion to studies for example-homophones (to, too, two, there, hair, tyre, tive etc) different pronunciations for similar kinds of spellings (put, cup and come, home etc.) and the confusion of silent letters (knife calf etc).

4. The students are not directed to write correctly, so the luck of practice does not show any improvement in spelling.

5. The teachers do not use interesting methods to teach spelling and continue to stick to the old drill methods it creats late of interest in learning correct spelling.

6. One of the cause of poor spelling is the shifting emphasis from alphabetic or word method to sentence patterns and looking at the texts as a whole.
