Mechanics of Writing

Writing English is pleasant exercize. Students should be allowed to draw bold patterns on the black-board or on big paper sheet. It will form the basis to write letters. At next stage, students should write with four lines and later two lines. Teacher should teach them strokes, straight lines, loops etc. to give them practice work. Now they will be able in writing letters, first capital, and then the small letters. Teacher can teach them cursive writing. First a pencil and later on pen may be used in writing. Mechanics of good hand-writing can be categorized as -

(i) Free hand writing,
(ii) Controlled drawing,
(iii) Acquaintance with the letters.

Characteristics of good hand writing are as under -

1. Simplicity, i.e. no unnecessary parts in the letter.

2. Uniformity i.e. letters should be uniform in size, shape and alignment.

3. Spacing i.e. letter should not be over crowded.

4. Reasonable speed.

5. Clear form.
