Method of Teaching of Loud Reading :- The teaching of loud reading involves following two steps :-

Step (i) : Model reading :- First of all the teacher reads a sample passage with correct pronunciation, intonation, stress, rhythm and pauses this reading is called the model reading. The aims of this model reading is to develop the auditory nerves of the students.
According to West :- "Until the pupil can read, the teacher is the sole source of the language. He is like the mother bird putting gobbets of English into the open beaks of his students."

If the students require repetition of model reading the teacher should do so, but they should not misuse it.

Step (ii) : Loud Reading :- After the model reading by the teacher, the loud reading should be followed by the students. This can be done first on individual basis followed by group practice. The teacher should correct the pronunciation, etc. of the reading. This should not be done in between but after the student completes reading.

The standard of reading aloud can be raised with the raising of the level of the students. At the senior level speed in reading, alongwith accuracy should be a emphasised, whereas at junior level only accuracy is demanded.
