Question- What are the challenges faced in using OER?

OER through seems a breakthrough in digitized education, comes with a set of challenges. Practitioners encounter several challenges when it comes to harnessing OER. They are as follows:

(i) Sourcing appropriate OER: This is an issue because there is no one-stop-shop for OER. They are scattered across the internet.

(ii) Understanding open Licenses: Another problem is the non-familiarity with different open licenses and what they permit.

(iii) Adaptation of OER requires new Skills: To adapt and repurpose OER, the practitioner needs more than basic ICT skills and also needs practice in revising and remixing resources.

(iv) Traditional mindsets Predominate : Many educators feel it wrong to use other people’s work and thus they protect, rather than share, their own resources.

(v) Robust Internet Connectivity and Good ICT Availability : These are also essential to access and adapt OER.
