Question- What do you understand by lesson plan? Discuss its characteristics and approch to write it.

Ans.

Lesson Plan :- The teacher teaches a unit of subject matter in a period. The outline he draws to teach this specific content is called the lesson plan. The lesson plan in actual teaching means all those steps which the teacher makes use of in the process of teaching.

According to Bining and Bining :- “The daily lesson plan is the defining of the objectives, selecting the subject matter and ordering it and to determine the use of presentation methods and process.”

According to L.B. Stand :- “A lesson plan is actually a plan of action. It, therefore, includes the working philosophy of the teacher, his or her knowledge of philosophy, her information about and understanding of the students, comprehension of the objectives of education, knowledge of the material to be taught and ability to utilise effective methods.”

According to Bassing :- “The meaning of lesson plan is the description of these specific means for achieving the objective in a definite time.”

According to Jacksons :- “The lesson plan is a pre-active stage that includes all the preparations of the teacher which he makes before teaching the class.”

Therefore a plan is a well-thought out scheme according to which an activity is to be brought to completion. A plan is, in fact, a mental rehearsal of all the phases of the activity. A lesson plan includes every kind of information about the interests of the students, about their educational level, about their previous attainment, about the material to be taught and about the methods of teaching the particular topic.
