Answer -

Undoubtedly, gender development is a social theory. Even today it is very difficult to make gender development a universal or social theory, many studies have been done in this subject, but they lack universalization. Soval, Carter and Phifer are few such scholars who have studied the above subject.

If we look at a general social structure, then our society is divided into two genders, female and male. Biologically, the position of women is more complex and different than that of men. We will try here to study gender development through the following headings :

  1. Biologically sexual development of women
  2. Socially sexual development of women
  3. Biologically sexual development of men
  4. Socially sexual development of men
  1. Biologically Sexual Development of Women
Physically, women are less strong and weaker than men. In addition, their average height and weight are also less than that of males. Apart from all this, they also have to fulfil the maternal obligation. Therefore, biologically women are less powerful than men but fulfil more responsibilities. If seen in this form, then there has not been much sexual development among women. Even today, their condition is almost the same as it used to be centuries ago, but from the last few decades, if seen from the Indian perspective, there has been some improvement in this situation and they are also being given a place in the service. At the same time, many such areas, which earlier used to be the right of men only, have now been opened to women.

  2. Socially Sexual Development of Women
Socially, women are more socially concerned than men, from their motherhood period, a woman’s close relationship with the child is established, which remains active throughout life. A woman is stronger than men in carrying out various social kinship relations from her birth to death. In modern times, there has been some complication in this condition of women. Especially if seen, women working women have to work harder to meet their condition, otherwise the situation becomes very complicated for them.

  3. Biologically Sexual Development of Men
Undoubtedly, biologically men are stronger than women, as a result of which their status has been higher than women. From the very beginning, men had to conduct activities outside the home as well as participate in military campaigns. In the Indian context till a few decades ago, women mainly used to do their work at home, while men used to do the above-mentioned work but at present the situation is changing and now there is no such work in gender which is reserved only for men.

  4. Socially Sexual Development of Men
While men are biologically more powerful than women, the same social facts are culturally inferior to women. Emotionally, women are more sensitive and dutiful towards their family and society than men. This system is still in operation today. But it is not that it is a universal principle. In the present time it is seen that joint families are disintegrating in big cities and nuclear families are coming into existence. In such a situation, socially, men have the same status as women, because when both husband and wife go out of the house for livelihood, the social responsibilities of both become equal, thus the position of universal theory of gender development. Being in is very difficult.
