Answer-

Thorndike propounded the principle of trial and error. Therefore it is also called the ‘Learning Principle of Thorndike’.

According to Thorndike : In learning trail and mistake is resorted to.

When any problem arises infront of a person, then they make some efforts to solve that problem. Initially when he solve the problem. In starting efforts he does not get success but with repeated efforts, he gets the solution of the problem. When we learn a task there are mistakes in it at first, but while trying that work, we become so adept in it that in the end we learn it.

In this way we learn a task by trail and error. This principle is of great importance. Under this principle, the child has to make efforts on his own which develops a sense of confidence in him. Through this principle, the intelligence of the backward children is developed. By this principle the child becomes hardworking. This principle gives the chance to children to feel their mistake or error.
