Question- Examine the educational implications of Piaget’s Theory of intelligence.

1. Piaget’s intensive study of the development of children and youth is remarkable.

2. He makes the learner active if learning is to result. The learner has to organise and adapt by either assimilation or accommodation to enhance learning. Each new cognitive structure, according to Piaget, is based on earlier one with the result that structures are useful in organisation and modification of the new information.

3. Piaget has suggested four stages of development and defined the operations in each stage, thereby providing us with a scale of operations for assessing a child.

4. The two basic tendencies of every human being namely the organisation and adaptation, can be seen in the interaction with the environment. Adaptation includes both the functions of assimilation and accommodation needed for intellectual development.
