Question- What do you understand by Informal agencies of education? Explain in detail.
Answer -
Informal Agencies
Informal agencies are those agencies whose function is not to impart education but it is incidental or indirectly affecting all educational institutions. In other words, informal agencies are those agencies which impart education directly. So, these agencies are different from formal agencies. These agencies neither have any pre-determined plan nor have any definite rules. These unknowns indirectly and informally transform the child's values. These agencies include family, society, state, youth, group, playground, film, press, radio group, etc.
Informal educational institutions are not controlled by any other institution. They are free from bondage. Their development takes place naturally. Their education is simple, natural and without pomp. Through these, children get real life education and their natural development takes place. Dewey gives more importance to informal means than formal meAnswer - They say that they create good habits, behavior, character and interests in people unknowingly by impacting them suddenly and naturally. Teach the child in a real informal manner. Develop their intellect and imagination and make their experiences developed and enlightened. help them in social adaptation. It is clear that the lack of these resources is widespread. In spite of many merits of non-formal education, there are some drawbacks as non-formal education does not run according to any pre-determined plan, so there is wastage of time and efforts in it. High level of knowledge is not attained through this. Art-skills cannot be taught by them. In spite of the above defects, informal education has its own importance.
