Drawbacks of English Curriculum : It is said that today is the time of communication, especially communication within English language. The status of English in our school system is as secondary language. But its status is not upto the mark. There are a lot of drawbacks in existing English curriculum out of which four main are given below :–

(i) There is more emphasis on translation rather than understanding.
(ii) The teaching method in India is teacher-centred. So, the curriculum of English do not pay attention to the requirements of students i.e. it is not child-centred.
(iii) There is lack of sufficient standard research in the field of English teaching.
(iv) The English curriculum does not follow the ism, e.g. idealism, humanism, behaviourism etc.
