(i) They don’t take into consideration anything that needs to be done post the delivery of a lesson. Assessment or evaluation is done to check the previous knowledge of the taught.

(ii) The importance of diagnostic assessments also diminishes in larger groups. These are more suited to identify the needs of smaller groups and apply quick fixes in such scenarios.

(iii) A teacher may sometimes develop or make inaccurate assumptions about the student’s knowledge of a subject and overlook that particular topic during the unit. It is quite probable that the diagnosis of a student’s problem is sometimes inaccurate.

(iv) Student’s sometimes can develop anxiety when they are exposed to diagnostic evaluation and the techniques underneath.

(v) Generally, for this assessment to be administered correctly and executed reliably special training may be required. Moreover, the whole process is sometimes time-consuming especially when the individual needs are to be met and specific learning gaps to be bridged.
