Question- What are the types of courses offered by CBCS?

Ans.

CBCS system offers three types of courses choices to the students – Core, Elective and Foundation.

(i) Core Courses: Students need to choose a core subject compulsory to complete the credit requirement.

(ii) Elective Courses: These subjects have more of generic content and work at improving the students skills. They expose the students to subjects which are not in their curriculum. Students get the freedom to opt for the subject of their personal interest.

(iii) Foundation : Also referred to as 'ability enhancement course', the foundation courses offer value-based subjects that lead to knowledge enhancement. Such value-based subjects help the students grab excellent career opportunities in the long run.

The amount of credits assigned to core, elective and foundation courses is different. The primary objective behind this thoughtful CBCS scheme is to encourage students to be an allrounder by taking their skills a notch higher.
