(a) Continuous evaluation is formative in nature and is school based.

(c) Its main purpose is to bring improvement in learning. For this purpose, the learning gaps and weaknesses are diagnosed so that feedback can be provided.

(d) Continuous evaluation is informally carried out in the classroom. No need for exhaustive preparations like seating arrangements, preparation and administration of question papers etc.

(e) Multiple techniques of evaluation to be used for continuous evaluation. It includes oral tests, quizzes, assignments, projects, observation, peer evaluation, self appraisal etc.

(f) Continuous evaluation is built into the total teaching-learning programme and is a part of the daily routine for a teacher.
