Meaning of Language : The word ‘language’ is derived from the Latin word, “Lingua”, which means tongue. Language is a specific form of speech which evolved over a period of time. It is a kind of conventional arrangement, a common usage and mutually intelligible patterns of words and idioms which makes communication effectively. Language is a science concerned with alphabets, words and formation of sentences. The effectiveness of language depends on the knowledge of grammar, correct pronunciation, spellings, listening and reading.

In the general way, language may be said to be any means of expression or mental concepts by any living beings whatsoever and of communicating them to, or receiving them from other living beings. Language is the entire complex of communication of emotions and ideas. It may be verbal as well as non-verbal. The verbal language is used for expressing ideas and experiences. It is well developed scientific terminology which is used orally as well as written. Non-verbal language is also known as bod language or silent language.

The realizations are expressed through body language rather than verbal language.

The culture of any community passes over to the young generation in terms of its language. It is thus a great preserver of old experiences and wisdom through which new generation is transformed. Language is an essential part of human life. Everyone from birth to death makes use of it. It is the most distinctive human activity. In this way, we can say that language is an instrument of communication among human beings for communication.
