A yearly lesson plan is a long term instruction plan wherein all academic and co-curricular activities to be taken in the specified academic year are considered while formulating the plan. It gives a detailed description about the units to be covered in each month and the related activities to be undertaken along with the unit. In simple words, the syllabus to be covered is tentatively distributed into certain number of units alongwith the total number of hours earmarked for each unit based on the percentage or importance given to that unit.

A year plan becomes more objectives and reliable when all the teachers of that subject sit together and construct it. Though the teachers try to maintain objectivity in the lesson plan, the yearly lesson plan should be flexible, enough to make room for accomodation of some important activities and events that crop in all of a sudden.
