Question- What are the advantages of Herbartian Lesson Plan ?

The Herbartian Approach has some advantages :

(i) Organised Teaching : Each step is organised in a logical order which provides an opportunity to the fresh teacher to become aware of future mistakes.

(ii) Use of Inductive and Deductive Method : While presenting the new knowledge, help of various examples is sought through 'generalisation' and rules are derived. This is the inductive method.

(iii) Recapitulation is done : Such questions are asked while recapitulation, which, on answering, results in the learning and application of the acquired knowledge in new situation.

(iv) Correlation is possible : Herbart considered entire knowledge as a single unit. This allows to establish a correlation between previous and new knowledge.
