E-commarce V/s E-Business

Though the terms E-commerce and E-business are used interchangeable, they are distinct concepts. E-commerce entails providing information to visitors regarding the company, which may be its history, company policies, or products and even job opportunities, offers in the websites to transact or facilitate selling of product and services online. It assists in conducting commercial transactions through information using EDI or electronic data interchange, e-mail or electronic main and other network based technologies, which mean that this is a paper-less exchange. In E- commerce, information and communication technology is used in inter- business or inter-organizational transactions (transactions between and among firms/organizations) and in business-to-consumer transactions (transactions between firms/organizations and individuals).

In e-business, information and communication technology is used to enhance one's business. It includes any process that a business, organization (either a for-profit, governmental or non-profit entity) conducts over a computer-mediated network. In more comprehensive terms e-business is the transformations of an organization's processes to deliver additional customer value through the application of technologies. Thus, e-business or electronic business is the conduct of business on the Internet, not only buying and selling but also servicing customers and colleborating with business partner's.

E-business combines the resources of traditional information system with the global reach of the Web. E-business refers to a broader definition of e- commerce, not just buying and selling but also serving customers and collaborating with business partners and conducting electronic transactions within an organization. E-business is all about cycle time, speed, and globalization enhances productivity, reaching new customers and sharing knowledge across institutions for competitive advantage. E-business connets critical business systems directly to critical constituencies-customers, vendors and suppliers-via the Internet, Extranets and Internets. Therefore, it means using electronic information to boost preformance and create value by forming new relationship between and among business and customers. It goes beyond a Website on the internet to affect all aspects of business, from strategy and process to trading partners and the ultimate consumer.

E-business enable business organization to accomplish the following goals-

Accoss new markets.
Create new products.
Make the best use of technologies.
Achieve market leadership and competitive advantage.
Build customer loyalty.
Enrich human capital.
