  • The United Nations (UN) is an international organization established on October 24, 1945.

  • The United Nations (UN) was the second multipurpose international organization established in the 20th century that had a global scope and membership.

  • Its predecessor, the League of Nations, was created by the Treaty of Versailles in 1919 and was disbanded in 1946.

  • The UN is headquartered in New York City and has regional offices in Geneva, Vienna, and Nairobi.

  • The official languages of the UN are:

    • Arabic
    • Chinese
    • English
    • French
    • Russian
    • Spanish
The United Nations is an international organization founded in 1945 after World War II by 51 countries committed to:
  • Maintaining international peace and security
  • Developing friendly relations among nations
  • Promoting social progress, better living standards, and human rights

The main bodies of the United Nations are:

  1. General Assembly
  2. Security Council
  3. Economic and Social Council
  4. Trusteeship Council
  5. International Court of Justice
  6. UN Secretariat

All of these were established under the UN Charter when the organization was founded in 1945.
