Question- What do you understand by creativity ? Discuss various abilities involved in it.
Or
What is the relationship between Creativity and Intelligence ?
Answer-
Creativity - Not all scholars are unanimous about the concept of creativity. Some consider it to be the ability to create a new thing and according to the opinion of some other scholars, it is considered as a psychological process by which valuable things are created. Another class considers creativity as a process as a result or product. It is clear that the word ‘creativity’ can not be given any specific definition. Different psychologists consider this in a different perspective. One can be creative in other ways.
Different scholars have presented its definition in different ways :
According to Crow and Crow : “Creativity is a mental process to express the original outcomes.”
According to James Drever : “Creativity is essentially found in new constructions or productions.”
According to Cole and Bruce : “Creativity is an ability and activity of man’s mind to grasp, express and appreciate the form of an original product.”
According to Stein : “Creativity is a novel work that is tenable or useful or satisfying by a group at the point in time.”
The given definitions make clear a general fact that creativity is concerned with the fundamental product. According to W. C. Morre and G. M. Wingo : Creativity establishing new relationships with different situations or expression of new attitudes towards a particular situation. Thus social interaction is possible in creativity, thinking, style, study work and sports. Almost all the work in a particular situation, the old relationship going on can be given a new arrangement. Creativity is also inherent in remembering events in our study. When we look for a solution to a problem, stay creative. Have a really destructive creative approach. No problem can be solved. Where when old testament habits method does not prove useful we have to adopt a new method or path. In this lies creativity.
To understand the meaning of creativity and its detail, it is necessary to look at its synonyms, creative and creative production. A creative quality is a personal quality of a person which is described in a set of permanent qualities. It prepares for creative thinking. Creative production does not mean result, but this production refers to the process of self-reflection. In relation to this, a psychologist has his own view that when the result of an action is new, it can be used by the group at some point of time. That work is called creativity.
From the given definition and the views of psychologists, it becomes clear that the concept of creativity includes things related to :
(1) Creative power,
(2) Production and productivity,
(3) Hypothesis,
(4) Acceptance of Innovation and utility by the group.

Creativity and Intelligence
What is the relation between creativity and intelligence? Many psychologists on this subject hold the view that creativity and genius are one thing. A highly creative person is talented but it is not always so. It has also been observed that people of high intelligence have been found to look down on the measurement of creativity. Psychologists Gatzel and Jackson tested the relationship between creative children and highly creative children with intelligence. In whose study, it was seen that creative children with high intelligence scores are less liked by teachers with less influence towards more self-reliant, more imaginative executives.
Studies done by some other psychologists have shown that it is not necessary that a creative person will become more intelligent.
Observed in an experiment conducted by Gatzel and Jackson on high school students in which there were children of reasonable creative average intelligence and children with high intelligence. Similarities were found in knowledge acquisition and the group with higher IQ was more preferred in the classroom by the teachers.
At the same time, some psychologists are of the view that creativity is dependent on the creative intelligence perceived by tests and is related to intelligence as assessed by the teacher. In this way, there is a relationship between creativity and knowledge acquisition from the educational point of view.
Difference between Creativity and Intelligence
